The Plant rose engine in its original configuration. Center height is approximately 17.5"/44.45CM. Rosettes are 10"/25.4CM in diameter.
The large Plant rose engine in its original configuration with the extremely large ellipse chuck installed. This rare ellipse chuck is one of if not the largest ellipse chuck produced by Plant.
Here is the rose engine in its present configuration. It was modified by Fred Armbruster in order to do both ornamental rose engine work as well and guilloché/engine turning.
The barrel was modified to make changing rosettes very simple. Given the size of the machine, this is a great thing. The original rosettes were kept and Fred Armbruster made a number of higher amplitude rosettes for ornamental rose engine work. In addition to those mounted on the barrel there are 4 others that have been cut as well as 8 blank rosettes and a fixture for cutting them.

The Plant Armbruster Rose Engine set up for Ornamental Turning for 3-dimensional work. It uses a Hardinge slide rest with a quick change tool post. Note the motors for the barrel and the overhead drive.
